Going the Distance For Harford County
I decided to run for The Clerk of Circuit Court for a few reasons. I had the skills necessary for the job and there were few interested candidates. Mr. Reilly has 16 years experience—I would be new, new to the position, new to county government. Change—what would that mean?
Harford County, I’ve lived here for 22 years, has seen a lot of change. I remember the Bata shoe factory buildings down where the Water’s Edge development has been built, providing a jobs, homes, entertainment. Bulle Rock was an apple orchard when we built our house in Grace Harbour. Driving down Moore’s Mill Road, new townhouses are sprouting up. The Roller Rink, where my daughter attended birthday parties, is but a memory. Change is a way of life here, not just in the way our county’s population has ballooned, but in the way our county government functions. Larger, more diverse communities put increased demands on all aspects of county government, including the Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court. Providing services to the county citizenry—be it court dates, land transactions, marriages—while adequate, could be enhanced. Informing citizens of the types of services offered by Office, online, as well as in person, other means for access, as allowed by state law, would be welcome.
My background in administrative and library settings gives me necessary skills to provide Harford County citizens with the services they deserve from the Clerk of Circuit Court.
